We are all chosen for something. Perhaps you are chosen to give, encourage, contribute, sponsor, educate, or volunteer. We invite you to look over our Menu of Support and decide what are you chosen for. Please consider one of the critical work The Salvation Army does all year round in South Central Kansas. 

Utility Assistance Per Family

The Salvation Army provides assistance for clients’ utility bills to help stabilize housing. The annual expense is $108,000.
 

Bus Passes

For individuals starting a new job, The Salvation Army will provide a monthly bus pass for them to get to work during their first month of employment. This allows them to have transportation until they get a paycheck or two and can then purchase their own. The annual expense is $9,900.
 

Identification Assistance Per Month

IDs are critical to gain employment and housing. The Salvation Army can provide the financial assistance to make it possible for individuals to obtain state IDs, driver’s licenses and/or birth certificates. The annual expense is $24,000.
 

Food Pantry

Strained budgets make it hard to have an adequate food supply for families. The Salvation Army offers 3 pantry locations in Wichita so families can have access to food and stretch their food dollars. Each location serves approximately 300 families monthly. The annual expense for one location is $24,000, for all three locations it is $72,000.
 

Gas Cards Per Card

Gas for transportation can be difficult to afford, especially when starting new employment. When someone has their own transportation, car insurance and registration, The Salvation Army will provide a gas card to help those with their own vehicle get to work. The annual expense is $18,000.
 

EDS Hydration

Our Emergency Disaster Services department provides food and beverages to those impacted by a disaster and also provides hydration to First Responders throughout the whole year. The annual expense for this is $11,000.
 

Pathway of Hope

Pathway of Hope is an eight-to-twelve-month case management-supported program for families with children in the home. Participants work with a case manager on reaching individualized goals and reducing barriers. A sponsorship helps stabilize the family for things needed throughout the program like car repairs, becoming current on utilities, etc. as they worked toward greater self-sufficiency. The annual expense for this is $125,000.
 

Club Pathway Party Sponsor (for Pathway of Hope families)

Sometimes extra things like a trip to the zoo or a class can be hard for families to fit in their budget. “Club Pathway” is a monthly activity that provides family fun, education or a little of both. Some recent examples include a movie night, Exploration Place passes, an Air Fryer Class (with families leaving with an air fryer and recipe ingredients). The annual expense for this is $2,500.
 

Transitional Housing/Rapid Re-Housing

Transitional and Rapid Re-Housing works hard to help women and families find long term stability. In order to help with the financial burden of setting up a new home, our case manager works to help relieve stress of funding all new items for a living space. The case manager makes "starter kits" which can be: bed-in-a-bag, laundry kit, kitchen kit, bath kit, and more.
